I am interested in materials as records of processes: things that fracture, erode, absorb, bend, decompose, and change. Geological formations, biological systems, and the structures of the body inform my approach to making, not as subjects to reproduce, but as systems through which I can consider growth, deterioration, interdependence, and renewal.
I work through processes of grinding, molding, bending, layering, binding, and assembling, often allowing materials to retain evidence of their manipulation. I am particularly interested in materials that remain active after an object has been made, so that transformation continues to occur within the work itself.
Through installation, sculpture, and experimental processes, I consider how the physical traces left by transformation can become structures, forms, and relationships. My work moves between the geological, biological, and bodily, treating material change as both a physical process and a way of thinking.
